Safeway to Close San Jose Grocery Location on Bollinger Road Next Month

Safeway Announces Closure of San Jose Store on Bollinger Road

Safeway has confirmed it will close its grocery store located at 6150 Bollinger Rd. in San Jose next month, according to a company spokesperson. The store, part of the Orchard Farms Shopping Center and situated near the Cupertino border, is expected to cease operations on or around November 13, 2026.

All Employees to Be Reassigned Locally

In a statement to KRON4, Safeway emphasized that all associates from the closing Bollinger Road Safeway will retain their jobs. "All associates will keep their jobs and be assigned to another store in the geographic area, consistent with the collective bargaining agreements," a spokesperson said. The company’s commitment ensures continued employment for staff as operations transition away from this location.

Alternative Safeway Locations Nearby

San Jose residents who frequent the Bollinger Road Safeway will have nearby options. The city is home to 13 other Safeway locations, including one less than a mile away at 5146 Stevens Creek Blvd. This Stevens Creek Safeway should help accommodate shoppers affected by the closure.

Serving the Community: Company Remarks

Reflecting on the store’s closure, the spokesperson added, "We have been proud to serve the neighborhoods in this part of San Jose over the years, and this decision was not made lightly. We remain dedicated to serving the community at numerous nearby Safeway locations in San Jose." Despite the upcoming change, Safeway underscores its intention to continue supporting grocery needs throughout the area.

Location Highlights: Orchard Farms Shopping Center & Cupertino Proximity

The Bollinger Road Safeway slated for closure is positioned in the Orchard Farms Shopping Center, a retail hub in West San Jose. Its location near the Cupertino border has made it a convenient stop for residents of both San Jose and neighboring cities. The shuttering of this location may shift some traffic to other local san jose stores, yet alternatives remain accessible for shoppers.

Looking Ahead for Safeway in San Jose

With the closure scheduled for mid-November, Safeway’s network of stores in the area remains extensive. Affected employees will transition to other safeway locations, and community grocery options will still include the Stevens Creek Safeway and other branches throughout San Jose.
